Mahi Tuhi
Mahi Tuhi is my final project for my Visual Communications degree at Ara Institute of Canterbury.
Inspired by my interest in language and writing systems I created a system that is bespoke to Te Reo Māori named Te Tuhi. As a non-Māori, Mahi Tuhi focuses on the journey of understanding mātauranga Māori and following tikanga to create something that isn’t tokenistic of Māori and Māori design language as a non-Māori.

This project was completed solely for the purpose of my degree.
Te Reo Māori is taonga. Māori are the only people who have authority over offical use of their taonga.
